Informational purpose
cookingconversion.co provides general kitchen measurement information and calculation tools. It is not a substitute for the instructions in your recipe, the guidance that came with your appliance, or professional advice. Use the results as a help to cooking, not as a guarantee about how a dish will turn out.
Ingredient conversions are estimates
Any result that crosses weight and volume, such as grams to cups, depends on a published reference weight for a specific ingredient in a specific preparation. Brand, moisture, particle size, humidity, sifting, packing and how you fill the cup all change the real weight of a cupful. We label these results as approximate and show the reference behind them. When a recipe gives a gram amount, weighing that amount on a scale is more reliable than any cup conversion.
Unit-to-unit conversions, such as millilitres to cups or ounces to grams, are exact for the selected measurement system, but only if you have chosen the system your recipe actually uses. US, metric and Australian cups and spoons differ, and a fluid ounce is not an ounce by weight.
What the tools do not do
- They do not tell you whether one ingredient can replace another. Equal weight does not mean equal behaviour in a recipe.
- The oven temperature tool converts the unit only. It does not adjust for fan or convection ovens, gas marks, altitude, pan material or the behaviour of a specific appliance.
- The recipe scaler multiplies quantities. It does not change cooking times, pan sizes, leavening, seasoning or technique, which may not scale in proportion.
- The appliance guides are educational previews. They do not offer an oven-to-air-fryer, microwave, slow-cooker or pressure-cooker time formula, because none applies to every food and model.
- Unsupported ingredients are not estimated. If your ingredient is missing, the tool asks for a sourced or measured value rather than guessing.
