There is no single 50-gram cup value

A cup describes space, not weight. This page compares the same 50-gram amount across supported ingredients and keeps the selected ingredient visible beside the result.

Work it out from the reference

Divide 50 by the grams in one cup of your ingredient. For the default flour reference, the calculation is 50 ÷ 120. Keep the unrounded result during calculation and round only what is displayed.

What if my recipe just says flour?

Check the ingredient list and recipe notes for the flour type. All-purpose, bread, whole-wheat, almond and coconut flour have their own entries here. A matching name is better than choosing the first flour on the list.

Measure the portion you need

A scale can measure 50 grams directly. If you are using cups, the decimal is an estimate based on the selected reference. Do not describe a rounded fraction as an exact equivalent.

A few useful answers

Kitchen questions, answered.

Is 50 grams half a cup?

It depends on the ingredient. For our default all-purpose flour reference, 50 grams is about 0.42 US cups, which is less than half a cup.

Does 50g mean 50ml?

No. Grams measure mass and millilitres measure volume. They are only numerically close for an ingredient whose density is close to 1 gram per millilitre.

Can I change 50 grams to another amount?

Yes. Edit the amount in the calculator. This page remains the 50-gram reference page; arbitrary edited amounts do not need separate pages.
